It’s that time again! Get ready to dust off that baseball glove and have some fun at this favorite annual event. All students are invited to “PLAY BALL!” on the Lower Bell black top followed by a healthy snack provided by the PTO. Each class will have a designated game slot within the following schedule:
|8.45 – 9.45am||3rd Grade|
|9.45 – 10.45am||Kindergarten|
|10.45 – 11.45am||2nd Grade|
|1.15 – 2.15pm||1st Grade|
We have an alternative game plan in case of rain. Same day but different schedule! We’ll post details if necessary on www.bellpto.org

On April 5th, Bell School, with help from FMPS, is pleased to present an evening workshop on Executive Function in Children with Sarah Ward M.S., CCC/SLP. The workshop will be held on April 5, 2017 at 6:30p.m. at Glover School. Tickets are not required. This is an adults only event. Please read the attached flyer, and mark your calendar. Come learn about executive function, and the role it plays in your child’s day to day life.
It’s Box Tops time again! We will be running a contest now thru APRIL 10. The class with the most Box Tops at the end of the contest will earn a reward they will choose with their teacher. We also have a goal of raising $350 as a school! All you have to do is cut the Box Tops logos off of your favorite participating products and send them into your child’s class. Simple! All 1st graders are invited to get active and join in the fun at a ‘big play date’ event at the local Y on Sunday April 2nd, 2.00 – 4.00pm. Bell School-age siblings are also welcome. Water and a snack will also be provided for all registered children. This is a PTO-sponsored event. Please RSVP to Sarah Fox (email@example.com) by Wednesday March 29. 1st GRADE EVENT: All 1st grade students and Bell-school age siblings are invited to join in the fun at this ‘big play date’ event being held at the Y on Sunday 4/2 between 2.00pm – 4.00pm. Entry for all registered students plus a drink and snack will be covered by the PTO. Please RSVP to Sarah Fox by Wednesday March 29.
RED SOX OPENING DAY: It’s that time of year again! Our ‘Bell School Red Sox Opening Day Celebration’ which will take place on Monday 4/3. Each class will have a designated time to “PLAY BALL!” at Lower Bell followed by a healthy snack provided by the PTO. More information, including the order of play and a sign-up genius for parent helpers, will be available later this week via email and on our PTO website.
EXECUTIVE FUNCTION WORKSHOP: Bell School and FMPS is pleased to present an evening workshop with Sarah Ward M.S., CCC/SLP on Wednesday April 5 at 6.30pm at Glover School. Ms. Ward is an expert in executive function in children. Executive function is “the brain function we use to manage our attention, our emotions and our behavior in pursuit of our goals.” No tickets required. Come learn about executive function and the role it plays in your child’s day to day life. More information can be found on our PTO website.
SCIENCE FAIR: The highly popular Bell School Science Fair, open to all students from K-3, will take place on Thursday April 6, from 5.00pm. Information packets should now have made their way home with all the details and ideas to inspire your young scientists. This is a fun, high energy event which the kids love. BOX TOPS DRIVE: It’s Box Tops time! We collect Box Tops coupons to earn money for our school and are running a contest from now thru April 10. The class that brings in the most Box Tops at the end of the contest will earn a reward they will choose with their teacher. To encourage teamwork, we have a school wide goal of raising $350! We will announce tallies throughout the contest, so keep your ears and eyes open to see the progress. All you have to do is simply cut the Box Tops logos off of your favorite participating products and send them into school with your child. MAGIC HAT VOLUNTEERS: Thank you to everyone who volunteered last week at the Magic Hat. We’re still calculating how near we are to hitting our 180 hour minimum for this 6-month allocation and will let you know as soon as we can. Every hour we volunteer between now and the end of this month will still count towards our target, so if you can spare some time please pop by, Tuesday – Friday 10-2. Every hour makes a big difference!
There are lots of cultural enrichment activities coming up next week: On Wednesday 3/29, grades 2 and 3 will meet WBZ meteorologist Barry Burbank who will talk to them about New England weather! Also on that day, the Kindergarten students will be visited by the Discovery Museum “Dinosaurs” Program. The children will become archaeologists and dig for fossils and dinosaur bones. On Friday 3/31, grades 1-3 will get a visit from Benjamin Franklin! Ben will talk about his days as an entrepreneur, inventor and founding father. We will be posting pictures from these visits and other recent cultural enrichment activities on the PTO website.
