This Thursday is the first tasting of the year for the our wonderful Harvest of the Month program! Tomatoes will be made into a fresh salsa and will be served with corn tortilla chips. Students will be given a “I tried it” sticker and a Tomato trading card to bring home. Below is the recipe for the salsa, in case you want to try it yourself!
Fresh Tomato Salsa
¼ t Fresh Jalepeno
3.5# Red Ripe Tomatoes (organic, local and heirloom are preferred)
1 am bunch Cilantro
¼ cup diced Sweet or Red Onion
1 clove Garlic
Kosher Salt to taste
1 T Apple Cider Vinegar
Purée all ingredients (Jalepeno, garlic, cilantro, onion, then add tomatoes and vinegar) in food processor to desired consistency.
Serve immediately or refrigerate in a tightly sealed container.
